At the heart of Imago Couples International are peer support groups, which provide a safe, motivating environment in which to learn and practice Imago relationship skills in the presence of other couples. In order to provide couples interested in leading and/or participating in Imago peer support groups with guidance, we are in the process of developing and piloting sets of guidelines and best practices for two specific kinds of groups:

  • Dialog Groups [guidelines doc]— These create a safe environment for couples who have experience with Imago Relationship Skills to practice basic Imago techniques (mirroring, validating, and empathizing) with the mentoring and support of other experienced couples.

  • Study Groups [guidelines doc] — Based around the newly-released Getting the Love You Want Workbook, study groups provide couples who are new to Imago with the education and skills necessary to start on the path, as well as offering experienced Imago couples a "refresher course" and a chance to share and improve their skills.

As our guidelines documents are evolving, we recommend that you check back here often for the latest updates, including guidelines documents for Parenting Groups, a third kind of group we are planning to explore.
